Serafina serves up some of the best Italian food in the City of Joy. My visits there have always been a culinary treat that I look forward to every time I dine there. Twirls of Pasta cooked just right, the perfect crust on my Pizza and Tiramisu to die for is what I associate most with my Serafina experience. I was excited to be invited to the launch of their New Menu and went off on the designated day to Quest Mall where this lovely place is located.
We were served a rather refreshing Twisted Orange Mojito as soon as we were seated. The drink served to be the perfect perk me up after a long day in office and I loved it. Next up came the bread basket, something I have a particular weakness for and we dug in. A lovely earthy Cappuccino Di Funghi – Cream of Mushroom Soup was served with some Chicken with Mushroom crostini on the side with a generous helping of parmesan cheese. An absolute treat for those who like mushrooms and in this rainy season a lovely way to start your meal. The Anti Pasto Misto – a platter consisting of parma wrap chicken, chicken mortadella crostini, buffalo mozzarella, parma ham, grilled zucchini, chorizo and pimento stuffed olives followed. A perfect dish for a light bite and enough protein on the plate for even a hardcore non vegetarian like me.
What followed next was a serious onslaught of eating. Pizza Pollo Funghi – a hand rolled thin crust Pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, spicy marinated chicken shitake mushrooms, onions and chilli flakes had us smiling from ear to ear. This was followed by the Linguini Scoglio – pasta in seafood marinara sauce with prawns, squid, fish and mussels perfectly cooked and the sauce just right. The fish that we were served next Brasato Di Pasce – a braised beckti served with spinach and mashed potato was outstanding. The lovely light flaky Kolkata Bhekti and the creamiest of mashed potatoes was one I will certainly reorder on my future visits to Serafina. The Pork Chops were good but I have had better, the pork was a little dry and I like my pork chops juicy. Flavor wise they were nice enough. I confess that the Braised Beckti was my firm favorite though.
Considering we were in food overload zone we should have skipped dessert but our hosts were nice enough to insist that we indulge and so we soldiered on to the absolutely lovely Crespelle Con Nutella – Nutella stuffed crepes with vanilla ice cream, it’s such a gorgeous combination that it’s hard not to like it. But for me a visit to Serafina is incomplete without their Tiramisu and that is what we ended our lovely culinary exploration on.
Serafina also serves up an excellent Sunday Brunch as well but that is a story for another day! If you enjoy Italian food this is a destination not to be missed. With elegant ambiance, a great cocktail menu and some excellent food it’s a delightful culinary indulgence.
