I Scream Co

You’re never too old for ice-cream, and I firmly believe it brings out the child in all of us. When we were young the ultimate reward was when we were taken to “Ice-Cream Parlors”, I am a 70’s child and I loved it in those days it was quite a novelty. I had my first ice-cream cone as a toddler at “Gay” on Strand Road and I still have the photo captured by my loving parents as a very fond memory.

When I received the chance to preview “I Scream Co” I did not hesitate to accept. An initiative by city foodies Ishan Daga, Utsav Jain and Sudhir Jaiswal, with the Menu designed and curated by Shaun Kenworthy it offers up over 36 flavors of ice creams and 7 flavors of sorbets, 6 milkshakes, 6 mock tails and 12 special desserts and over a dozen toppings. Following modern culinary trends its liquid nitrogen desserts in a plethora of flavors deriving inspiration from classic European to home grown Bengali Mishti are sure to wow you.

I was spoilt for choice but one name caught my eye rather quickly – “Ooo! Too Much Chocolate”, as a confirmed chocoholic I wondered if there can ever be too much chocolate for me!! I was not disappointed when a rather large chocolate chip cookie, topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce , a nice dollop of liquid nitrogen prepared chocolate ice-cream and some chocolate covered toasted almonds was served to me. Delicious and sinful and recommended for all chocolate lovers. A small suggestion though if the cookie base was broken up and then the dish assembled it would be easier to eat.

Next we were served the Lemony Marshmallowy Flummery – Crumbled Cookies topped with Lemon Ice Cream and a generous helping of toasted Marshmallows on top. Perfect summer dessert, fresh lemon flavors and we all really enjoyed it. There are so many unique flavors to try that I can’t wait to go back for more – Triple Toffee Apple Pie, Bangla Mania, Velvetey Red Raspberry, Millionaires Caramel Shortbread to name a few that caught my fancy.

A lovely tart Green Apple Sorbet and Bubblegum Lemonade Mocktail were both served up for tasting and both were appreciated by all of us. I love the freshness of the sorbet and it’s a lovely palate freshener in muggy Kolkata climes.

Last up were the Dragon Shots portions of flavored popcorn cooled with liquid nitrogen which when you bite into makes you breathe smoke out of your mouth like a dragon. Kids big and small are going to love this one and some overgrown kids like me too were quite tickled by it!

They have chosen a rather cute looking Dragon as a mascot and as we left we were handed very cute pins as a keepsake to carry away. Such a fun experience ….they open their doors today and I wish them all the very best going forward.

DISCLAIMER: I was invited for a preview as a guest of The Management but the views expressed are entirely my own.
